Dem Stump Speechs

Well, my half-assed cable is good for something at least: C-Span.

Wes Clark was just up, and he had some good lines. Some of my favorites:

"I've forgotten more about national security than George Bush will ever learn about national security."

Memo to Democrats: Work the chimp's military record into your speeches. Work it hard. Like my boss Mr. Kahn says, "I like that Outkast song, you know, that part where they say 'shake it like a poloroid picture.'" Shake Bush's military record like a poloroid picture. Or something.

Here's Clark again. "Republicans like to talk about family values. Well if you want to talk about family values, you had better start talking about jobs. Because without a job, you can't support a family. You had better start talking about health care if you want to talk about family values, because without health insurance, you can't support a family."

Clark also spoke of how he was tired of the Republicans pretending that they had a direct line to God, how they were the only ones who knew something about religion. "Here's what I know. Every religion that we have in this country and every one that I've studied has one thing in common: if you are more fortunate and more blessed than you neighbor, you have an obligation to help that neighbor." Huh. I wonder where he got that idea from.

Here's Edwards now: "The South is not George Bush's backyard. The South is my backyard. And nobody beats me in my backyard."

"The truth is, we who live in the south, we carry a special reponsibility."

These are some good speeches here.
