The premise of generating hydrogen is completely without merit because no chemicals capable of generating hydrogen were found. Bacterial growth media, not a specifically banned substance but one requiring disclosure under UNMOVIC mandates, was found in UNREPORTED quantities. Still no smoking gun but getting warm.
Upon investigation, the trailers were found to have been decontaminated with chemicals common to this task. The one damning chemical is sodium azide, a chemical that would have no utility in generating hydrogen but one commonly used in bacteria culture.
Furthermore, the trailers are to this day, unreported equipment and even if there was a purpose such as hydrogen generation, full disclosure was required. Since the date of manufacture was between October 1998 and December 2002, this is a clear violation of UN resolutions.
